Food for Thought

A film about more sustainable food for now & future generations.

Celebrating Guardianship with Silver Fern Farms on a Global Stage

Food For Thought is a series presented by FoodDrinkEurope and produced by BBC StoryWorks Commercial Productions, which shares the stories of how 12 food producers around the world are responding to the challenges of climate change and sustainability.

As part of this, an episode has been produced for Silver Fern Farms which focuses on our Net Carbon Zero journey through our supplier Whāngārā Farms’ approach to kaitiakitanga (guardianship) of the land. Showing how we’re working together to lead the way not just in creating the most delicious red meat from the farms the world needs, but on improving sustainability too.

Net Carbon Zero by Nature* is a unique program that measures emissions right across the value chain, including animal, transport and packaging and we are able to account for those emissions by insetting through measuring woody vegetation on farm, which is independently certified by Toitu Envirocare.

At Silver Fern Farms we are passionate about creating goodness from the farms the world needs.

This wonderful film tells the story of Silver Fern Farms Net Carbon Zero by Nature program and Kaitiakitanga.

The series of films are hosted at BBC.com
