RUNNER UP 2016; Best Regional Dish, 2016 & 2015 

Daniel is an Australian born chef based in Central Otago where he joined joined Pitches Café & Restaurant as Head Chef in 2014. Daniel’s inspiration is to create fun, fresh and vibrant dishes using seasonal produce. He loves trying new things. 

The consistency and quality of Silver Fern Farms meat across all cuts of lamb, beef and venison is the best product I have worked with. As an Australian who is usually proud of our beef and lamb, I have to say it beats Australian product. just like in the All Blacks, hands down!

Twenty years ago he started his training as a chef on Hamilton Island in Northern Queesland. After his training he moved to Sydney and worked with an Italian chef, Frank Patano.

He has the prestigious honour of being a private chef to the celebrities including Elton John and ZZ Top.

Daniel’s innovative dish won ‘Best regional restaurant’ in the 2015 Silver Fern Farms Premier Selection Awards. Last year his winning dish was ‘Smoked eye fillet of Silver Fern Farms Premier Selection Reserve beef and green tea’.
