Silver Fern Farms Plate to Pasture Farmer Conference 2017

Registrations have closed for our inaugural Plate to Pasture Farmer Conference being held in Dunedin on 15th August, where we will announce this year’s winner of our Plate to Pasture Award at the Gala Dinner.

The full-day programme, held at the Glenroy Auditorium, will bring plate and pasture together with a programme featuring inspirational speakers who will share industry insights; attendees will enjoy a unique food experience at Toitū Otago Settlers Museum which will celebrate our natural, grass-fed, red meat.

We look forward to welcoming those who are attending our inaugural Silver Fern Farms Plate to Pasture Farmer Conference in Dunedin.

Our Inspirational Speakers

Vangelis Vitalis
Deputy Secretary Trade and Economic - MFAT

Vangelis returned to Wellington in 2017 having been New Zealand’s Ambassador to the World Trade Organisation in Geneva since August 2015.

While in Geneva, Vangelis was elected in a personal capacity to chair the WTO agriculture negotiations, including to the Nairobi WTO Ministerial Conference during which he helped draft the historic Ministerial Decision on Export Competition which eliminated agricultural export subsidies and established new disciplines on export credits.

Before his posting in Geneva, Vangelis was Ambassador to the European Union, NATO and Sweden based in Brussels and has had postings to Canberra as Deputy High Commissioner and before that in Moscow. From 2008-2011 Vangelis was the Chief Negotiator who led the conclusion of the regional ASEAN-Australia-New Zealand Free Trade Agreement (FTA) and the separate FTA with Malaysia. He was also part of the negotiating teams for the FTA with China and the precursor to the Trans-Pacific Partnership Agreement, the Pacific-Four FTA.

Dave Gougé
Head of Marketing & Publicity – Weta Digital

As Head of Marketing, Dave is in charge of managing Weta Digital's reputation. Dave ensures that the groundbreaking work and innovative technologies produced at Weta Digital, and the artists who create them, are recognised for their excellence. As part of this, he and his team work with journalists, media outlets and professional organisations around the world to highlight the company's achievements. In addition to international film activities, Dave manages Weta Digital's profile as a significant technology and entertainment company in New Zealand.

Dave joined Weta Digital in 2010 after working as Autodesk’s Senior Brand Manager for Media and Entertainment. Prior to Autodesk, he worked for over a decade in advertising and integrated marketing for technology and consumer brands.

Melissa Clark-Reynolds
Entrepreneur and Business Leader 

Beef + Lamb NZ's first independent director, Melissa Clark-Reynolds ONZM is widely recognised as an inspirational role model and business leader. Melissa is a Digital Strategist and Professional Director - with 25 years experience as an entrepreneur and in the business start-up community. She trained with Clayton Christiansen in his approach to Disruptive Innovation through Harvard. 

Melissa has been CEO of a number of technology companies and is a Governor of Radio NZ, and sits on the Boards of Beef and Lamb NZ, Kiwi Insurance, Jasmax, and Softed. Melissa is a Member of MPI’s Primary Growth Partnership Investment Advisory Panel and Chairs the LINZ Risk & Audit Committee. In 2016 she attended the Te Hono Bootcamp at Stanford University.

 

Michael McHugh
Owner and Editor-in-Chief of MiNDFOOD magazine and McHugh Media

Launched in March 2008, MiNDFOOD is a successful lifestyle magazine in both New Zealand and Australia. MiNDFOOD magazine boasts a total circulation in New Zealand of 36,800 copies, making MiNDFOOD the fastest-growing magazine in the country, according to the NZ Audit Bureau of Circulation.

Michael was the creator and founder of Notebook: magazine. Notebook: went on to win MPA Australian Launch Magazine of the Year 2005, Marketing Campaign of the Year, MPA Editor of the Year, and Special Execution. Notebook: has successfully launched in Australia and Italy.

Michael also launched the successful magazine Delicious, winning MPA Australian Magazine of the Year and Launch of the Year 2003, and Best Epicurean Magazine in America 2004. Delicious has also successfully launched in the UK and Holland and is currently being trialled in the Asian marketplace.
